Depending on where you are in your\u00a0<\/span>faith journey, the process of becoming a sister takes at least nine years. During these years<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>an aspiring sister goes through many phases\u00a0<\/span>of training\u00a0<\/span>and preparation<\/span>. From\u00a0<\/span>doing work in the community to studying\u00a0<\/span>theology and\u00a0<\/span>the history of the church<\/span>, one must be dedicated to<\/span>\u00a0their call. The entire process is a time of deep self-reflection<\/span>, spirituality, and growth.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion][vc_tta_section title=”Aspirancy or Candidacy Phase (1 year) ” tab_id=”1615983604011-53f17d09-85e3″][vc_column_text]Through our \u201cCome and See\u201d program, you will be able to discern if God is drawing you towards religious life. With the help of<\/span><\/span>\u00a0a vocation\u00a0<\/span><\/span>promote<\/span><\/span>r, you can discover i<\/span><\/span>f God is calling you to become a Sister.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>They<\/span>\u00a0will help you get started and invite you to visit for a week or two in order for you to make a final decision.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>This phase\u00a0<\/span><\/span>involves socializing with other sisters and becom<\/span><\/span>ing<\/span><\/span>\u00a0more\u00a0<\/span><\/span>acquainted with community life<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Postulancy Phase (1-2 years) ” tab_id=”1615983604046-a14154de-16ae”][vc_column_text]This phase involves spiritual and personal growth<\/span><\/span>. You become mature enough to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>say that you are called to serve God in a religious life.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>The change from secular to religious life begins in this phase.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Novitiate Phase (2 years)” tab_id=”1615983703481-678b25e3-6f31″][vc_column_text]The first year of the Novitiate Phase is known as the\u00a0<\/span>Canonical Year<\/span><\/b>. During this time, a novice explores and studies the meaning of the vows<\/span>\u00a0and the evangelical counsels (chastity, poverty, and obedience) and delves deeper into religious life.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>In this phase, a sister fully\u00a0<\/span>transitions into wearing religious clothes.\u00a0<\/span>For this year<\/span>, there should be no familial contact or contac<\/span>t with friends<\/span>, only contact with God.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The second year of the Novitiate Phase involves ministry experience.\u00a0<\/span>A Sister is engaged in<\/span>\u00a0the community to gain experience in nursing, school, or social work. She spends 3 months in a different\u00a0<\/span>community.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Temporary Profession (about 6 years) ” tab_id=”1615983752445-cdf6af6e-c421″][vc_column_text]This phase is when a Sister professes her first vows<\/span><\/span>. The vows can be renewed at the end of this period where a Sister w<\/span><\/span>i<\/span><\/span>ll deepen her understanding of God, engag<\/span><\/span>e in ministry, and study charism and spirituality as a\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Pallottine<\/span><\/span>. Studies will also include whatever\u00a0<\/span><\/span>vocational interest was taken up in the Novitiate years.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Perpetual Profession ” tab_id=”1615983810415-f970c20c-2208″][vc_column_text]A sister professes her final vows which signify her complete \u201cyes\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span>to<\/span><\/span>\u00a0t<\/span><\/span>he vows of consecrated celibacy, gospel poverty, and apostolic obedience. This is a profession of commitment and <\/span><\/span>service<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to both the p<\/span><\/span>ublic and the church<\/span><\/span>\u00a0for life.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>A sister works on her morality, psychology, and maturity in this phase, as well as physical fitness. <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Ongoing Formation ” tab_id=”1615983850823-c4736cd3-39de”][vc_column_text]Following perpetual profession<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>is ongoing personal development.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>New consecrated life is embraced through personal transformation and community action.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Responsibility<\/span><\/span>\u00a0as a member of the church is accepte<\/span><\/span>d\u00a0<\/span><\/span>and lived out\u00a0<\/span><\/span>every day<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>A Sister regularly attends seminars and workshops and studies the history of the church. The journey of becoming a\u00a0<\/span>Pallottine<\/span>\u00a0Sister truly begins when\u00a0<\/span>God calls us to\u00a0<\/span>become committed to\u00a0<\/span>serv<\/span>ing Him and others.\u00a0<\/span>One must have a strong desire to\u00a0<\/span>live in a community with other women dedicated to\u00a0<\/span>creating change, living in prayer, and living ou<\/span>t the\u00a0<\/span>religious\u00a0<\/span>vows of<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>chastity, poverty, and obedience<\/span><\/b>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
